Thanks for visiting Healthy San Diego Living! This is me
, a 20 something year old girl, on a journey to discover HEALTHY LIVING. I started my blog, Life Changing, as a beginning and have since decided to devote the majority of it specifically to Healthy Living in SD. Going through this process and trying to discover healthy options in the city isn’t as easy as I thought it would be—I would LOVE to create a place where people can get more information regarding a more nutritious and active lifestyle.
Why am I doing this? About 5 years ago I lost my mom, my best friend, to cancer. The whole experience put me in a bit of a slump—I took a few years off of school, continued smoking cigarettes, and just indulged in a very unhealthy lifestyle. As I get older I’m starting to realize how important it is for me and my future to stay healthy, I definitely know it’s what my mom would want! SO I went back to school, I QUIT smoking (over a year now) and I joined the gym! I’m ready to be as healthy as I can be, and even though I don’t know my way around the kitchen OR the gym too well, I’m excited to find my way!
Exercise truly has been a HUGE motivation for me in regards to not smoking. When I 1st quit, anytime I would crave a cigarette, I’d do SOME form of physical activity—I wanted to show myself how good it felt to actually be able to BREATHE! It’s what worked for me! A year later, not only have I rid myself of the cravings, but I discovered I have quite the love for fitness, staying active and improving my overall health.
I try to get some form of exercise in everyday, no matter what. OK, so I’m not a great runner, BUT that doesn’t stop me. I’m having a blast trying new and exciting workouts all the time, I’m up for anything at least once.
I go to school and work full time, and although there are days that I feel like I simply don’t have time to accomplish as much as I’d like, I’m learning that it is completely possible to do it all, and healthily so.
